It is true that there are 80 calories in a glass of the sweeter white wines and the calories are all in the alcohol. For most Chardonnays there are only about sixty calories. The higher the alcohol content of the wine the more calories the wine has. Typically, the drier the white wine tastes the less calories it has.

However, it is true that most white wine is only a mixture of alcohol, water and flavoring. The grape juice that begins the process is acted on by the yeast added by the winemaker. The sugar and oxygen found in the grape is converted into alcohol and carbon dioxide. Water does not have calories and the amount of calories in the flavoring is small, therefore, it is only the alcohol that contains any calories. If it is calories in white wine that you are counting, then having one glass of wine occasionally is fine, but if you can’t stop with one glass of your favorite white wine then you might want to try cutting back your calories elsewhere. Of course if you prefer red, the flavorings of red wine include antioxidants that are helpful to you. Whether your preference is white wine or red wine both provide a degree of digestive comfort that is hard to duplicate or value.

Selecting Your White Wine

Now that you have made your choice that you prefer white wine and you are prepared to monitor your usage as part of your weight control program, you should select a wine that you can afford and is commonly available. There are tons of white wines available in the stores. From the cheapest Chablis and German varietals to the most expensive wines from France and California, there are thousands of bottles of white wine available at any time.

Your choice needs to be based in your palette. Do you prefer sweeter tastes or do you like tastes that are more robust and have perhaps an oak or other wooden taste. There are white wines with both these tastes. In fact, there are today wines available that are mixed with pears, apples and other fruits to provide a variety of tastes for all drinkers. There are even peppery wines that are developed in rather special soils that actually give the grapes a little bite to them.

Of course you should not mix exercise and white wine. This can be disastrous as wine is mostly alcohol and your capabilities are typically diminished after drinking. So if an exercise program is included as parts of your weight control program then you really need to consider only drinking when you do not exercise shortly thereafter.

Have you ever wondered where the beer you are drinking comes from? Well, if you haven’t made it yourself, it most likely comes from a place that does commercial beer brewing. Though there are many different kinds of businesses and companies that perform commercial beer brewing, they all complete basically the same processes. Learning about how commercial beer brewing is done will give you a greater appreciation for the beer you drink.

Breweries Around the World

There are so many different breweries that brew beer commercially. Some are large, some are small; some produce one hundred barrels a year, while others produce hundreds of millions of barrels every year. It really depends on the amount of resources available to the company.

A microbrewery, or craft brewery, is a name for a small business that performs commercial beer brewing. Up until the 21 century, it was referred to almost exclusively as a microbrewery, but later the term ‘craft brewery’ became more popular. A brewpub is another type of commercial beer brewing business. This term means that the beer is brewed and sold to the public at the same location. A regional brewery distributes or produces beer for a specific region, and a macrobrewery or megabrewery is a large commercial beer brewing business.

Part Of The Process

The process for brewing beer commercially is essentially the same no matter where you go; however, a smaller business might complete the process slightly different than a larger business with more money and more manpower. The seven steps involved in commercial beer brewing include: mashing, lautering, boiling, fermenting, conditioning, filtering, and filling.

Fermentation is probably the post important part of the brewing process. It involves adding yeast to the wort, which allows the sugar to be converted into alcohol. Today, commercial breweries typically use cylindroconical vessels for fermentation, although sometimes open fermentation vessels are used. Open fermentation vessels allow the process to be put on display, which is often an asset in public pubs, and they are helpful in the making of wheat beer.

Equipment, Then And Now

Today, they majority of the equipment used in commercial beer brewing is made from stainless steel. However, it used to be that wooden equipment was the only thing available. Some smaller businesses today still use wooden equipment. However, like most other aspects of commercial beer breweries, technology has provided a superior alternative to old fashioned wooden vats.

Appreciate The Good

The next time you take a sip of that ice cold beer, think about the processes that went into making it. Chances are you’ll have a whole new appreciation for something you hadn’t thought about before.

The best cup of coffee that you will have ever tasted would obviously have been made from the best coffee beans and these in turn had to be grown in the best conditions that are a combination of special climes and also fertile soil. As everybody knows, it is countries such as Brazil that supply the world with the best coffee beans because this tropical region has the best as far as regular sunshine and rain are concerned. Still, coffee beans were first discovered in Ethiopia and it is still being grown there though the production of coffee beans has since then spread to all parts of the world.

Seventy Odd Coffee Bean Growing Countries

In fact, from among the seventy odd coffee bean producing countries in the world, only a handful have the proper climate and soil in which to grow the best coffee beans. Brazil alone accounts for about a third of all coffee bean production followed by Columbia where roasts are the most popular type of coffee beans. Other top coffee bean producing countries are Indonesia (third) and Mexico where the coffee grown has a very distinctive taste and so, Mexican coffee beans can also be considered as being among the best coffee beans, though only because of the unique taste those beans provide.

Another factor that governs the quality of coffee beans is the altitude where they are grown and thus best coffee beans are usually produced in high lying areas and in Brazil, the production of coffee beans is ordered and is also a huge industry that employs a large labor force. However, Columbia that has plenty of coffee bean growing areas at higher altitudes certainly can lay claim to being the country that produces best coffee beans, though this is not always realized since the country suffers from bad economy which make it difficult to get the beans from their growing areas to processing plants in the best possible manner.

Another top contender for growing best coffee beans is Hawaii where the quantity grown may be on the small side but the growing conditions are ideal and the plants are especially known to flourish in volcanic ash and where a hot sun beats down followed by frequent showers – all of which are ideal coffee bean growing conditions. Thus, Hawaiian coffee beans are certainly among the best coffee beans grown anywhere on this planet.

Indonesia that was colonized by the Dutch too grows best coffee beans and that is because the country has a humid as well as balmy climate and the technology used in growing coffee beans is very advanced, which is why coffee beans grown in places such as Java and also Sulawesi that are being exported to the rest of the world enjoy a very enviable reputation.

If you enjoy the flavor of freshly roasted coffee you might want to consider purchasing a coffee roaster for your home. They typically create smoke but it usually has a wonderful aroma. You should use the roaster at a stove vent or other places that are provided with good ventilation. The darker roasted coffee will typically create more smoke than coffee that is lightly roasted. They are easy to use and come in a wide variety and are designed for the beginner as well as for coffee drinkers who have experience at roasting their coffee beans. Let’s take a look at some of the popular coffee roasters that are available.

The Fresh Roast Plus 8 is ideal for those who are novices at roasting coffee. The chamber was designed to contain about 3.5 ounce of green coffee beans which will allow you to roast enough beans for about ten cups of coffee. The roasting chamber is smaller than some other coffee roasters however the small chamber has the ability to roast the coffee beans quicker than the units with larger chambers. This version of a coffee roaster will have completed the roasting process in approximately ten minutes.

HotTop Drum Roaster

The HotTop Drum Roaster is made for the coffee drinker who is particular about his roasted coffee beans. The machine allows you to roast about nine ounces of coffee beans at a time. It’s a drum roaster and it is designed with a window which gives you the opportunity to observe the roasting procedure. The unit features a control which provides you with seven different roasting levels. You can roast a large amount of coffee beans in approximately twenty minutes.

Nesco Professional Home Coffee Roaster

The Nesco Professional Home Coffee Roaster is provided with a catalytic system which eliminates the smoke that typically occurs while roasting coffee beans. This model takes about thirty minutes to complete the roasting process and the roasting chamber can hold about four ounces of coffee beans.

The i-Roast 2 is a small roaster which can roast about a half to about one cup of green coffee beans at a time. It is also designed for precise roasting time and it comes with temperature controls.

The Gene Café Drum Roaster has been designed to include the great features of a drum roaster and from the air type coffee roasters. The model has two knobs which allow you to better control the roasting process of the coffee beans when compared to roasters that are digitally controlled. If you want to roast coffee beans at home there are numerous types of coffee roasters that are available.

It is said that the art of distilling was discovered somewhere in Asia in approximately 800 B.C. The assumption was that this technique was merely used to make perfumes, however this has been refuted.

The method by which the processes found its way to the British Isles is uncertain; however we do know that the Moors brought the art of distilling to Europe. It is believed that the art was then refined in monasteries throughout central Europe. Apparently the patron saint of Ireland, St. Patrick, carried this trade into the monasteries in 432 AD on a Christian mission. Regardless, the Celts did attain the secret eventually and made their water of life that in Gaelic is pronounced ‘Uisge Beatha’.

This simple yet not well-known name is how the scotch whiskey came to be, as Uisge means whiskey. The millstone year for whiskey in history would have to be 1494 as a Sir Friar John Cor of Scotland ordered eight bolls of malt. It was reportedly to be used for aqua vitae which is the first accountable proof of production of whiskey in Scotland.

The skill of distilling soon left the monasteries for the farms where just about everyone was making whiskey up until about 1820 this is when the government decided they were going to shut down personal and private distilleries making them illegal. The rough and sometimes brutal taste differs greatly from today. It was not until the eighteenth century that it was discovered that with aging came a mellower brew. The findings of the aging process was practically tripped upon when an old cask long forgotten was found full of the good stuff.

The uniting of the two parliaments one from England and one from Scotland in the year 1707 is what drew into effect the Union Act. Realizing that it would pay off for both sides, they came up with an unheard of plan for making the malt.

By the year 1725 the English malt tax was forged however not without bloodshed. At this time every second bottle of malt distilled in Scotland was of the illegal kind due to roving excise men, illicit distilleries, and the fashion of smuggling.

In 1820’s much trouble arose in the form of crime and tough taxing policies which eventually became completely unmanageable. To solve the problem, the government ordered the Excise Act which allowed the government to track which distilleries were legal and those which were not by using labels.

Whisky started out as a product for the British market in the 1820s, but today it has become a drink that is appreciated and loved around the world. Much of this incredible development is the result of the introduction of blended whisky. Even today approximately 90 percent of all whisky that is produced in Scotland is used in blended whisky. However the interest of single malt whisky has increased in recent years and this development is likely to continue.

Do you enjoy drinking wine? Do you enjoy tasting and discussing new wines or especially old ones? A wine club is the place for you. Wine clubs are great groups and get-to-gathers for wine enthusiasts and wine makers to discuss and taste wines and other wine-related accessories. Wine clubs are fun and exciting if you are into wine, and you are prepared to have a lot of fun with wine and wine tasting. These clubs are not purely social they do serve a purpose to help get opinions and criticism on types of wine and wine accessories.

What do people do at wine clubs?

Most people attend wine clubs for the social atmosphere to be with other wine-enthusiasts. These are fun parties where everyone brings a bottle of wine, and they all taste each others bottle of wine. They then give each other their opinions and enjoy discussing the features of the wine. Most wine-enthusiasts have sensitive palettes that detect certain ingredients and features in wine, this is what will start pleasant wine conversations and heated wine debates. On the other hand, wine makers also attend these meetings to help get feedback on their wine. The members of the wine club will usually host a party with the wine maker as their special guest. Instead of bringing their own bottles of wine the wine maker brings sample bottles. Everyone will try a sample from each bottle, and they then voice their opinion. This helps wine makers figure out what the public will think of his or her wine. They can choose to leave the recipe be if they have good response from the wine club or they may decide to tweak the recipe a little bit to better the wine from the wine clubs advice. This has saved wine makers a lot of money by wine clubs helping them in their quest for great wine making. Wine clubs also host wine tasting dinners. These dinners are hosted usually by a single person, they choose the course menu. With this menu they go by a few guidelines and pick out wines that compliment each food dish. This makes for a fun-filled evening of food, wine, and social enjoyment. These parties are great ways to meet the neighbors as well. Not only wine clubs put on these parties, but many people who move into new neighborhoods will host a wine and dine party to help socialize and meet their new neighbors.

If you’re interested in joining the growing number of people who are brewing their own beer, there’s a couple of ways you can get started. Some people choose to purchase a home beer making kit that comes with just about everything you need to get started, including ingredients. Some kits can be quite affordable at around $40. These aren’t too bad if you just want to play around, but if you’re seriously interested in making some good home brew, you’re going to want something more. Here’s a look at how you can assemble your own home beer making kit.

Advantages

There are several advantages to putting together your own home beer making kit. Even though some kits are relatively inexpensive, it’s probably more cost effective to assemble your own. The cheaper kits are pretty basic, and if you’re going to stick with your new hobby, you’re going to want to upgrade eventually anyway. Why not get the supplies you’re going to end up needing right away? The more expensive kits are nice, but you can probably save money buying the same supplies separately. Some of the required equipment can probably be picked up at your local dollar store. You may even have some of the supplies you need already. Putting together your own home beer making kit also gives you more versatility as far as recipes and amounts.

What You’ll Need

You’ll need at least one large stainless steel boiling pot for boiling the wort, which is basically the mixture of water, malted barley, and hops. Stainless steel is recommended to avoid the possible contaminations that can occur with other materials.

These next items should probably be purchased from a home brew supply store or online, and can often be found as a kit. They include primary and secondary fermentation vessels, which usually come in the form of large glass carboys, as well as plastic tubing, rubber stoppers with holes, siphoning and bottle filling kit, bottle caps and capper, fermentation lock, hydrometer and thermometer. You may be able to purchase these things separately, but it’s probably easier to just buy them as a kit to make sure you have everything.

Cleaning and sanitizing supplies are probably the most important parts of any home beer making kit. There have been more failed attempts at home brewing because of improper cleaning and sanitizing than any other reason. There are cleansers and sanitizers available that are designed specifically for this use. The nice thing about these sanitizing solutions is that they require no rinsing. Some people use bleach for this, but the rinsing that is required is capable of introducing contamination, which kind of defeats the purpose. These solutions can be purchased at a home brew supply store or online.

Of course, when the brewing is complete, you’re going to need bottles to put your beer in. A good way to get your bottles is by purchasing your favorite beer and saving the bottles after you drink it. You can also ask your friends to save theirs. One thing to keep in mind is that the caps and capper that you have will not work on twist top bottles. Make sure you only save the kind that requires an opener.

As you can see, it’s relatively easy to put together your own home beer making kit. Not only will you probably save some money, you’ll also have a kit that will be more useful and longer lasting than the pre-made kits.

Coffee makers are popular and essential appliances in almost every household. Almost every family in America needs to brew coffee in the morning. For both working adults and students alike, a cup of coffee means the difference between surviving the day and falling asleep. While this dependence on caffeine is probably not very healthy, it drives a very lucrative business, that of the production and brewing of coffee.

However, not every coffee maker is the same, and some are better than others. The best coffee makers all have certain qualities that help produce a great cup of coffee every time. However, coffee makers are also individualized; the best coffee makers are the best for certain people because they provide personalized accessories and options. In the end, however, buying a coffee maker is an important decision as it can cost a good amount of money. As it is a device that will be used daily, even multiple times a day, it is a crucial investment that homeowners will want to get right the first time around.

Waking Up to Goodness

The best coffee makers are high-quality devices that provide a lot of options. Coffee makers in general are automated, but some are more automated than others. They allow for the user to pre-program specific preferences, from brew length to brew strength. In the end, however, a lot of the preferences and accessories available on the best coffee makers are up to the individual.

The size of the coffee maker is important, as a family is going to need a lot more coffee that a single man or woman. Aside from pot size, cup size is important as well. Some people drink larger cups of coffee while others prefer smaller cups. Some of the best coffee makers are one-cup brews, meaning one cup of coffee is brewed at a time, resulting in fresher coffee every time.

Color, material and design are also important characteristics of the best coffee makers. A coffee maker wants to supplement the décor of the kitchen, not exist in complete contrast. Aestheticism is just as important as functionality. Some of the best coffee makers also do more than brew a cup of coffee; some brew cappuccinos, draw espresso shots, steam milk and add flavor syrups all with the push of a button. These machines are a lot more expensive, however, but for some people such variety is a necessity.

The first Rachel Ray recipes were shown on a television show that was dedicated to meals that could be prepared in thirty minutes or less. This first television show was extremely popular, and Rachel Ray recipes were used by many people who were just learning to cook.

Rachel Ray has many recipes for main courses, but she also has recipes for ethnic cuisine including Italian and Mexican recipes. Rachel Ray also has some wonderful recipes for desserts. She owes some of her popularity to the guidance that she provides to her fans. She has menu and party planners for those who are not good at planning for daily or special events.

Everyone is aware of the fact that organic skin products are milder and hence safer for those who have sensitive skin. However, is it true that the organic face cream is only to be used for sensitive skin? Is it beneficial for other skin types as well?

Unraveling Myths and Facts

There are many myths surrounding the organic face cream as well as other organic skin products available in the market. Knowing what myth is and what is a fact would help you in making an informed decision about your choice of cosmetics.

Myth – organic products are not as safe as they are claimed to be. There are many instances reported when an organic face cream resulted in unpleasant side effects.

Fact – there are many products out there which go by the name of ‘organic products’ which are actually not organic in the real sense of the world. For a product to be labeled correctly as organic it should have a minimum of 95 per cent organic ingredients. This is not the case with a good majority of the ‘organic products’ our there – hence, the possible side effects and reactions.

Myth – an organic face cream would always be costlier than a non-organic one and the overall results or effects from their use would be more or less the same.

Fact – the organic face cream (as many other organic products) would indeed be costlier than the non-organic ones because it is more difficult to find the ingredients required, though the scene is gradually changing owing to the massive awareness that is weeping the globe. However, it is not true that the results are the same.

The organic face cream would definitely be more beneficial than the chemical one mainly for the reason that it works by improving the natural mechanisms in the body while the chemical interferes with it. Long term use of chemical products would most often than not result in some harmful effect or other, which is never the case with the organic products.

Myth – you can never be allergic to the organic products. If you suffer from any allergies or bad side effects, then your product is not organic.

Fact – it is true that the organic products are particularly attractive because people believe there are never any side effects from it. Generally speaking, this is true. However, if you are particularly allergic to certain compounds and that compound finds its way in the organic face cream you bought you would definitely develop an allergic reaction. To be sure – check the ingredients and avoid those products which have the allergy triggering agent.
