Creating A Chili Recipe

Chili is a comfort food; there aren’t many people who don’t like chili. Chili cook-offs are a time honored tradition for pot luck dinners and family reunions alike. Finding a great chili recipe is only limited to ones own skill, creativity, and pallet.

All chili recipes will contain ground meat (usually beef), beans (usually kidney and pinto), an array of aromatic vegetables (usually onions and bell peppers), savory spices (such as cumin), and just a kick of heat (usually from jalapeƱo or cayenne peppers) simmer over low to a perfect consistency and chili is born!

What Can Red Wine Do?

While red wine isn’t considered a cure all (and certainly not a substitute for visiting your doctor), there are some widely agreed upon benefits to drinking red wine. The most promising benefit is that red wine is believed to protect against certain forms of cancer & heart disease. In fact, some studies show up to a 30%-50% reduction in heart disease of those who consumed a glass of red wine each night. It also appears to have a positive effect on cholesterol & blood pressure. And finally, drinking red wine has been shown to lower the risk of heart attacks in middle-aged (30-50 years old) adults.

Since American colonial times, whisky stills have been a part of our culture. Most colonists had their own whisky still recipes that were a staple in their homes, passed down to the next generation. Stills (short for ‘distillery’) became illegal in the Prohibition Era and again in the Depression when the government placed a heavy tax on alcohol. Bootleggers and Revenue Agents became mortal enemies. Unfortunately, many recipes for whisky stills were lost in this struggle.
