Scotch Whisky to America

As new Irish and Scottish immigrants tried to settle on the American continent they brought with them the distilling methods of scotch whiskey. Finding the new raw materials different that what they were accustomed to, they lead the way for an evolution of new scotch now known merely as whiskey. Today if you can find a similarity between Irish and Scottish whiskey, and its now American cousin you would be further ahead than the experts and connoisseurs.

Old-Fashioned Cake Recipes

Baking has become almost a lost art in recent years. Many people are so busy with careers and family that the thought of taking time to bake seems overwhelming. At best, baking is done with a cake or brownie mix purchased at the local grocery store. It is sad that many old-fashioned baking recipes are being lost in the current generation. And the skill used to bake a wonderful cake is being forgotten. People need to take the time to find and bake an old-fashioned cake recipe.

History Of Hawaiian Coffee is Short Lived

The history of growing coffee in Hawaii is a short one with the first known plants not arriving on the islands until 1825 when coffee tress were imported from Brazil. With the tropical climate and a growing season that extends from September through January, Hawaiian coffee is the only coffee produced in the United States. Many of the brands of coffee are named for the area of the state in which the beans are grown, but currently the state produces about six and a half million pounds of green Hawaiian coffee beans a year.

What Makes Hawaiian Coffee Stand Out

Some people think that Hawaiian coffee is the same as Kona coffee but these two kinds of coffee are actually different from each other. The difference lies in the regions that they are grown. Hawaiian coffee is a term used to loosely describe all the coffee grown in the state of Hawaii where as Kona coffee is the product of the Kona region of the Big Island of Hawaii. Since Hawaii is a volcanic island in the Pacific, it has soil rich in minerals and all the islands enjoy great weather almost all year round. Some of the coffee plants are planted in elevated areas that promote better plant growth due to the cooler weather with almost year round sunshine. There are actually many different kinds and varieties of Hawaiian coffee.
